The 46th Dakar is over for Yazeed Al Rajhi (Toyota Hilux). At the start of the 48-hour stage, the leader of the cars rolled over and had to give up. After the rest day, Al Rajhi may be able to start again, but he will no longer play a significant role in the rankings.
Stage 6A and 6B will be completed in the Dakar on Thursday and Friday. The 48-hour stage is a novelty this year. It has all the characteristics of a marathon stage where the participants can work on their vehicle themselves in the evening. Once 4:00 PM local time, the participants must go to the bivouac where they are close by. Because everyone had to hand in their smartphones on Thursday morning, no participant knows what the rankings look like at that moment. It will become clear to them on Friday after the finish.

Yazeed Al Rajhi, one of the spearheads of the Belgian Overdrive Racing, will not make it to the bivouac on Thursday evening. At the first time recording of stage 6A he passed third. “After 51 kilometers everything was fine. We were driving at full speed on a flat stretch when I hit something. The car somersaulted and is now damaged,” Al Rajhi said afterwards. An attempt was made to repair the car, but it was not possible. The crew is safe and sound and returned to the start of the stage. During the rest day, an attempt may be made to repair the car. Only after inspection by the FIA will it become clear whether the car is allowed to restart. For example, the roll cage of the car may not be damaged.
Al Rajhi was in the lead after five stages. In any case, there will be a different leader among the cars on Thursday evening.
