When using WhatsApp, it is possible to send text, video, and voice messages, among other features. You have the ability to enable the recipient to listen to a voice message only once. Follow the steps below to learn how to use this feature.
One-time view voice messages on WhatsApp
For those who frequently send voice messages on WhatsApp, there is a useful function available. With the ‘One-time display’ feature, you can send audio messages that the recipient can only listen to once. This article will guide you through the steps to send a voice message with a one-time display. Are you ready?
Make sure you are using the latest version of the WhatsApp app. Go to the Google Play Store and search for ‘WhatsApp’, then press ‘Update’ if available. If the ‘Update’ option is not there, that means you already have the most recent version for your smartphone. Proceed with the steps below to test this feature.
- Open WhatsApp and select the (group) conversation where you want to send a voice recording;
- Press and hold the microphone icon at the bottom right of the screen and swipe up to the lock;
Your audio recording will now continue and various options will appear.
- Select the ‘One time view’ icon on the right;
This has a half-dotted circle and a ‘1’ in the middle.
- Click on the send icon to send the audio.
If you send a voice message with a one-time display, the recipient will see this icon next to the message. The recipient can listen to the audio message once, but the sender cannot listen to the message again. This ensures that the content of the audio message can never be heard again.
WhatsApp calls this function a more secure way of sending voice recordings, especially for sharing sensitive information such as credit card details or passwords.
If the feature does not work for you, it may be because the latest version of WhatsApp is not (yet) available on your smartphone. Keep an eye on the Google Play Store for new WhatsApp updates.
Send more messages once on WhatsApp
In addition to voice messages, you can also send photos and videos once on WhatsApp. Simply select the media you want to send and click on the ‘One time view’ icon before sending.
The recipient will then only be able to view the photo or video once. However, they still have the option to take screenshots or capture photos, so it is important to be cautious with what you send.
Furthermore, WhatsApp offers a variety of small yet useful features. For example, you can hide conversations with a special secret password, send a video message in seconds, and keep unknown callers silent with one simple setting.
