Pierre Gasly is currently driving for Alpine, but his tenure at Red Bull remains a sore point for him. In 2019, Gasly was promoted from AlphaTauri to Red Bull, only to be demoted back – a decision that still rankles him.
At the start of 2019, Pierre Gasly was elevated from AlphaTauri to Red Bull to join Max Verstappen as his teammate. However, midway through the season, he was sent back to AlphaTauri and replaced by Alex Albon.
This move took a toll on Gasly, as he felt it was unjustified. Despite showing promise, his performance didn’t meet Helmut Marko’s expectations. To this day, Gasly has not received a satisfactory explanation for his demotion.
When asked during the Beyond the Grid podcast if he had discussed his demotion with Helmut Marko, Gasly responded, “No. I hope one day I get the chance.”
Gasly also reflected on the situation, acknowledging the complexities of the sport and the lack of fairness at times. However, he expressed optimism about his career at Alpine, stating, “I have learned from my past experiences and believe that I have grown both professionally and personally as a result.”
