Max Verstappen believes that Formula 1 only goes to Las Vegas for the show and not for sporting reasons.
Within a week, F1 cars will race across the world-famous Las Vegas strip for the first time since 1983. Max Verstappen is certainly not overflowing with enthusiasm to race in the spectacular setting of Sin City, he told the assembled media.
First of all, we are here more for the show than for the race itself if you look at the layout of the track, says Verstappen. Actually it doesn’t mean much to me, I’m more like: I go outside, do my thing and leave again .
I’ll arrange that when I arrive at the circuit. I mean, there’s still a lot to do.
“I still have to go into the simulator. To be honest I don’t even know the circuit yet, the last time I tried it in the F1 game I think I hit more walls than I went straight, so let’s hope that’s not the case when I go drive there.
“It will be very different from Brazil, very low temperatures and of course at night.
“We have no experience there. We don’t know the grip of the track, it’s all new, so maybe it will bring a few surprises.
“It depends for who and what,” he added when asked if the race would add value to F1.
“Maybe not in terms of racing spectacle, but maybe in terms of potential partners for F1 and the whole show around it – but again, I’m not concerned with it.”
