Christian Horner, the team boss of Red Bull Racing, has recently affirmed the team’s commitment to retain Sergio Perez for the 2024 season. This confirmation comes after previous speculation regarding Perez’s position within the team, prompting Horner to clarify the situation.
Following Perez’s impressive performance at the Brazilian Grand Prix, Horner addressed the growing uncertainties surrounding Perez’s future by stating, “I have absolutely every confidence that Checo will be our driver next year. The clear plan, and therefore the clear intention, is that we want to continue with him.”
When pressed for further explanation on the term “intention,” Horner dismissed external rumors and emphasized the team’s unity by stating, “Everything is clear within the team. I have every confidence and it is clear that Checo will be our driver next year. We have confirmed the drivers at AlphaTauri, we have our drivers at Red Bull, this is how we want to race in 2024.”
Furthermore, Horner addressed the speculations around a potential replacement for Perez, stating, “If someone gets injured or something, those are circumstances that we have no control over. We will give him all the support we can to finish second, but if he doesn’t finish second it doesn’t mean he’s out.”
