On Friday and Saturday, two Formula E races took place in Riyadh, in which our fellow countryman Stoffel Vandoorne also took part. At first glance, both races seemed to have gone smoothly, but after the second race a missile attack took place.

The attack took place during the podium ceremony of the second Formula E race won by Briton Sam Bird. Suddenly, some loud bangs could be heard over the capital, Riyadh.
The attack was probably targeted by the Yemeni Houthis who have been fighting the regime in Saudi Arabia for several years. Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, among others, was one of the guests during the festivities after the race.
The missile attack over Riyadh was successfully intercepted with the use of anti-aircraft guns and patriot missiles. Fortunately, there were no injuries during the attack, although a house was damaged by falling debris.
For the first time in history, an F1 race is scheduled in Saudi Arabia on December 5. Unlike Formula E race, F1 race takes place in the streets of Jeddah city.
