We provide an overview of the traffic fines for 2024 and detail the amount of the fine. Get ready, because the 2024 traffic fines will be significantly higher than the previous year.
It is no surprise that traffic fines in 2024 will surpass those of 2023. This is an annual occurrence, attributed to inflation and Minister Yesilgöz’s decision to fill budget gaps in the Justice and Security department.
The Public Prosecution Service recommended against the increases, citing that it’s now cheaper to physically harm someone than to unlawfully park in a disabled spot. Nevertheless, the 2024 traffic fines have increased by 10% – 6% for inflation correction and 4% to fill the treasury.
Here are the traffic fines for 2024 for various offenses:
- Driving through a red light – 300 euros
- Using a phone while driving – 420 euros
- Driving unnecessarily on the left – 270 euros
- Driving unnecessarily on the emergency lane – 300 euros
- Failure to wear a seat belt – 180 euros
- Overtaking on the right – 300 euros
- Driving without a valid MOT – 180 euros
- License plate difficult to read – 180 euros
- Turning without indicating – 120 euros
Incorrect Parking
Improper parking will result in a fine of 120 euros, significantly lower than the 370 euro fine for parking in a disabled spot without a valid permit. Making unnecessary noise, such as honking without a valid reason, will cost you 300 euros.
An increasing phenomenon is driving in the dark without lights, which could also cost you 180 euros in fines if caught. Blocking an intersection will result in a 300 euro fine, so plan accordingly.
