According to Guenther Steiner, his former team Haas should seriously consider signing Oliver Bearman. Steiner rates Bearman very highly, according to the former Haas F1 team boss there is even a very good chance that Oliver Bearman could be the new Max Verstappen.
Nico Hulkenberg will leave the Haas F1 team at the end of this season to move to the Stake F1 team, the future Audi F1 team. This will leave at least one racing seat available at the American team and a new driver will have to be found. According to former team boss Guenther Steiner, Haas should take a look at Oliver Bearman.
Bearman is a test and reserve driver at Ferrari and was allowed to fill in for Carlos Sainz in Saudi Arabia because he was unable to participate due to appendicitis. Oliver Bearman rode into the spotlight and into the points and this undoubtedly did not go unnoticed by many team bosses.
Oliver Bearman has also already played for the Haas F1 team during a practice session on Friday and, according to Guenther Steiner, they should not hesitate to sign Bearman. After all, the still only 19-year-old Bearman seems to be a top talent, possibly even the new Max Verstappen, according to Steiner.
“I think Bearman would be a good choice for the Haas F1 team,” said Steiner during ‘The Red Flags Podcast’. “Bearman did well in the Ferrari, even though it was only one race, and I think he knows himself. It may be a little too early to say that he is the new Max Verstappen.”
“It could be the case that he is the next big rider, that chance is 50-50. There is no certainty that he is.”
“I think there is a serious waiting list. I would say the two Alpine drivers are looking around, although I think their financial demands are greater than what the Haas F1 team can offer.”
