Amaury Cordeel had to retire disappointed on Sunday in Imola, Italy, during the fourth round of the Formula 2 season. The 21-year-old Antwerp resident was in the lead when he left too early after a pit stop. His right rear wheel was not yet secured and Cordeel had to abandon the fight. On Saturday he finished fourth in the sprint race.
In the race on Sunday he started tenth on the starting grid. He chose to postpone his pit stop until the end of the race and was in the lead for a long time. A few laps before the end he had to enter, but after the failed pit stop he was forced to retire.

The victory went to the Frenchman Isack Hadjar. The Argentinian Franco Colapinto was the best in a chaotic sprint race on Saturday.
