On April 24th, I shared the news that Brown Dust 2 was updating the age rating in South Korea. Neowiz, the publishers, adjusted the age requirement from 12+ to 19+ starting April 25th. I also mentioned that this age rating change would not affect other regions, but it seems I was mistaken! Yes, now the global age rating for Brown Dust 2 is also being adjusted.
What’s The New Age?
The global age rating for Brown Dust 2 is increasing from ’12+ years old’ to ’17+ years old’. This modification is being applied universally across all regions. After the changes take effect, players will need to confirm their age in each store to continue playing. However, please note that this adjustment is currently only applicable to the App Store.
Actually, the decision by the Korean Game Management Committee to raise the age rating had a domino effect across different regions. Apple’s App Store follows a policy requiring simultaneous age rating updates worldwide. Nevertheless, the exact date of the change will be communicated later.
What Do You Think About This?
The scenario of gacha games being accessible to children as young as 12 has always struck me as peculiar. In my personal opinion, Brown Dust 2 features some rather suggestive and risque animations. Finally, it appears that Brown Dust 2 is moving away from that. It’s about time for other games to follow suit (looking at you, Nikke) instead of toning down content just to maintain a 12+ age rating.
So, when can we expect the Brown Dust 2 global age rating adjustment to reach Google Play? We’ll have to wait and observe how long it takes, now that the App Store has made the change globally. In the meantime, if you haven’t tried the game yet, you can download it from the Google Play Store.
