Smart rings may be the next big thing in the wearables market, and we have just received the Ultrahuman Ring Air to see how it stacks up against established smartwatches and smartbands. It is the lightest smart ring on the market right now, ranging between 2-3 grams depending on the size you choose, and it is only 2.4mm thick – much less intrusive than a bulky smartwatch.
Despite its slim frame, Ring Air promises the standard range of health tracking features found on smartwatches, including continuous heart rate, heart rate variability (HRV), and SpO2 monitoring. You also get detailed sleep tracking with sleep stages, recovery and movement index measurements, step count, and workout mode with precise heart rate tracking.

The inside of the bezel has an infrared PPG sensor, a 6-axis motion sensor, and a skin temperature sensor next to the battery and charging pins, all encased in translucent epoxy resin.

Ultrahuman claims that the finger is a more accurate source of information thanks to the abundance of arteries on your fingers. You can wear the ring on your index, middle, or ring finger. It is not a medical-grade device, but we will make sure to compare readings from the ring to those from a smartwatch.
Ring Air connects via Bluetooth 5 Low Energy (LE) with your Android or iOS phone, and you get all your data on the Ultrahuman companion app. Our first impressions of the app are positive – it is well laid out, easy to navigate, and offers detailed information on health and activity essentials along with some neat additions.
There is a stimulant restriction window tracker to guide you on optimal times to consume caffeine and a circadian rhythm tracker to help you stay on top of your body clock with options to log light exposure, food intake, and exercise. It is also nice to see that there is no subscription model here, and you have free access to all your data forever.
Our review unit comes in the Raw Titanium finish that matches the Natural Titanium iPhone 15 Pro. The sleek finish looks reassuring and should repel scratches well. Ultrahuman also offers Ring Air in Aster Black, Matte Grey, Bionic Gold, and Space Silver colors.
The retail package includes a charger and Type-C USB cable, as well as some leaflets to help you set up the ring. Pricing is set at $349 from the official Ultrahuman site.
Battery life is claimed to last between 4-6 days, which we will be sure to test in our full review. That’s all we have for now, be sure to tune in for our full review coming in due time.
