In recent weeks there has been a lot of speculation about the future of various racing seats in Formula 1. Hamilton’s racing seat at Mercedes and that of Sergio Perez at Red Bull in particular have received a lot of attention. However, Perez is not worried about his future.
“I’m quite relaxed about that, it’s my fourteenth season in Formula 1,” Perez told ‘Sky Sports F1’. “Whatever comes next, I’m happy with what I’ve done in this sport so far.”
“I think it is only a matter of time before my future is decided and of course the driver market is changing. There will be a lot of movement in the coming weeks. I expect to know within a month what I will do next year.”
Perez has started the season much better this season than last year. It ensures that Red Bull’s choice in the midst of a ‘driver market in motion’ does not become any easier. Christian Horner was asked when a decision would be made about Perez’s future.
“The entire driver market seems to be moving very early this year, everyone seems to want to make quick work of it and we’re only four races away,” said Horner. “We are not in a rush, there is obviously a lot of interest in our cars, Checo is our priority.”
“It will take a few more races before we think about next year.”
