The OnePlus Nord CE4 and Tecno Pova 6 Pro were launched this week. Let’s review their prices and compare them to their predecessors.
The OnePlus Nord CE4 features a Snapdragon 7 Gen 3 with a significantly improved GPU. It also comes with dust and water resistance, although it’s only rated IP54, which is still an improvement over the CE3. The battery is 10% larger at 5,500mAh and charges faster, reaching 100% in 29 minutes in our tests, compared to 31 minutes for the older model. The CE4 will receive two major OS updates and three years of security patches.
The OnePlus Nord CE3 doesn’t offer any significant discount and costs the same as the phone it replaced. The larger sensor in the 50MP main camera is a nice touch, but there’s no reason not to choose the CE4.
The Tecno Pova 6 Pro now features an AMOLED panel, whereas its predecessor had an IPS LCD. The new model also offers IP53 dust and water resistance rating. The main camera has been upgraded to 108MP, and the selfie camera to 32MP. The phone boasts a large 6000mAh battery with 70W charging capabilities, making it ideal for gaming sessions and overall endurance.
On the other hand, the older Tecno Pova 5 Pro is significantly cheaper and uses the same Dimensity 6080 chipset. The performance is similar, and both phones offer ample cooling. While the battery is smaller at 5,000mAh, it still offers decent performance. The Pova 6 Pro may not be the best camera phone, so depending on your needs, opting for the older model could be a better choice.
The Realme Narzo 60x, priced just above ₹10,000, is a 5G phone that offers impressive features without cutting corners. It features a large 6.72” IPS LCD display with a 120Hz refresh rate, a powerful 5,000mAh battery with 33W charging, and a single 50MP camera on the back. While the Dimensity 6100+ chipset might be slightly slower than the Pova 5 Pro’s chipset, it still offers great performance for the price.
From the lower end of the price range to the top, the Xiaomi 14 Ultra is currently available for early access. A deposit of R10,000 will secure your place when the phone launches on Monday (April 8). There are discounts available to help reduce the final price.
The new Motorola Edge 50 Pro, set to launch on Monday, combines the Snapdragon 7 Gen 3 with a 144Hz 6.7” OLED display. The phone also features a 4,500mAh battery that supports impressive 125W wired and 50W wireless charging. The camera setup is a standout feature, with a 50MP main camera, a 10MP telephoto lens, a 13MP ultra-wide lens, and a 50MP selfie camera. Overall, the Edge 50 Pro offers great value for money.
The Realme 12x, which was recently unveiled and is available for pre-order, offers a 4/128GB model for R12,000. It’s an alternative to the Narzo 60x, featuring a 6.67” 120Hz IPS LCD display, an IP54 rating, and a 5,000mAh battery with 15W charging.
