Samsung’s Galaxy S24 Ultra boasts high-end specs, as expected, and has sparked numerous debates among tech enthusiasts. However, one undeniable feature is the inclusion of Corning’s Gorilla Glass Armor on its display, setting it apart from other smartphones. This unique feature truly shines when you hold the S24 Ultra in your hand.
Samsung has finally decided to highlight this feature with a new video on its official YouTube channel, featuring appearances by Marques Brownlee (MKBHD) and John Bayne, Corning’s SVP of Mobile Consumer Electronics.
The anti-reflective coating on the glass enhances the brightness of the S24 Ultra’s screen, particularly in bright sunlight. With up to a 75% reduction in reflections, the screen’s brightness stands out even more. When paired with this glass, the already bright panel reaches new levels of clarity.
But there’s more to the story. Gorilla Glass Armor is also four times more scratch-resistant than other screen glass technologies. This armor is created through a process that involves covering the glass surface with special ions in nanometer-thin layers, each thinner than a human hair. The manufacturing process for Gorilla Glass Armor takes place in an ultra-clean environment using vacuum deposition systems, similar to Samsung’s semiconductor manufacturing process.
