Samsung has recently released the One UI 6.1 update for the Galaxy S23 family at the end of March. Unfortunately, many users have reported touchscreen issues after updating. The touch screen on these devices sometimes fails to register touch input properly, requiring users to tap multiple times to get a response.
This issue can be quite frustrating, and Samsung has finally acknowledged it. However, the twist is that Samsung is attributing the problem to Google. Specifically, the problem seems to be linked to the Google app’s Discover feed, which may appear on the far left side of your home screen.
Samsung has stated that Google is aware of the issue and is actively working on a solution. In the meantime, Samsung is providing a temporary fix for affected users. They should clear the Google app’s data and then restart their device. After performing these steps, the touchscreen should function properly again.
To clear the Google app’s data, navigate to Settings > Apps > Google > Storage and tap Clear data. You may need to sign in to your Google account again after doing this.
Google is expected to address the problem with an update to the Google app. Make sure to enable automatic updates in the Play Store to receive the fix promptly. If you prefer, you can manually update all apps through the Play Store by accessing your profile icon, choosing Manage apps and device, and then selecting the Update All button.
