We are approaching Apple’s September event, with numerous leaks and rumors about the iPhone 16 swirling around.
Today, we have some exciting information about the upcoming lineup. Starting with leaked metal dummies shared by Sonny Dickson on X. These dummies are commonly used by case and accessory manufacturers to design their new products.
The dummies unveil the entire iPhone 16 lineup and provide some intriguing details. First, let’s talk about the sizes. The iPhone 16 and 16 Pro appear to be roughly the same size, with the iPhone 16 Plus falling in between, and the iPhone 16 Pro Max being the largest.
This seems to confirm an earlier report that the iPhone 16 Pro and Pro Max will feature screen sizes increased to 6.27” and 6.85”, from 6.1” and 6.7”, while keeping the size difference minimal due to reduced frames. The 16 and 16 Plus are anticipated to maintain the 6.1″ and 6.7″ screen sizes, respectively, suggesting the 16 Pro may be slightly larger than the 16.
Now, onto the details. It appears that all iPhone 16 models will feature an action button on the left and a new capture button on the right. Until now, the Action button has only been available on the Pro models, but these dummy units suggest a change in that pattern.
The capture button is expected to be a mechanical button with a capacitive surface to enable swipe gestures for zooming. Interestingly, the Capture Button is positioned exactly where the mmWave antenna is located on current-gen US units.
The Action and Capture buttons appear on all models
Lastly, according to a report from Weibo, the iPhone 16 Pro and Pro Max will introduce the anticipated Rose color using the same color-infusing technology introduced by Apple on the 2023’s iPhone 15 and 15 Plus.
This technology involves adding color to the back glass, which is then reinforced with a dual ion exchange process before being polished and etched with nanocrystalline particles for a textured matte finish.
