It is widely anticipated that the Pixel 8a is on its way, and we have a clear idea of what to expect – a Tensor G3 chip, 8GB of RAM, 128/256GB of storage, and a 120Hz display with 1,400 nits of peak brightness. The design will closely resemble the Pixel 8, and it is likely to be priced a bit higher than the 7a.
Surprisingly, recent leaks suggest that Google may be closer to announcing the 8a than originally anticipated. An ad from Google Fi Wireless prominently features what appears to be the Pixel 8a. This speculation is based on the absence of a microphone hole in the same location as the Pixel 8 (between the cameras and LED).
It is worth noting that the phone in the background could also be the Bay phone, distinguishing itself from the Pixel 8 Pro due to its matte frame instead of a shiny one. Perhaps we are looking at two Pixel 8a devices in the image.
Again, the image could simply be two Pixel 8s placed one in front of the other, with the microphone hole obscured for unknown reasons. As always, it’s best to approach this information with a hint of skepticism.
