Several stores in Europe have started selling the Xiaomi Watch 2, a more affordable version of the Xiaomi Watch 2 Pro, even though Xiaomi has not officially announced the watch yet.
Some shops in Belgium are charging €200 for it, while the price in Slovakia is €250. We believe the former is the intended price, as the Pro model is easily found these days for €230 (it was initially priced at €270 for the Bluetooth model and €330 for the LTE model).
The Xiaomi Watch 2 features the same 1.43” 466 x 466px AMOLED display, but the 46mm case is made of aluminum instead of stainless steel like the Pro. The watch is available in black and silver with a matching TPU strap.
It includes a heart rate and SpO2 monitor, built-in GPS, and a 5 ATM water resistance rating. It is powered by the same Snapdragon W5+ Gen 1 chipset with Wear OS. Xiaomi claims 65 hours of battery life for both watches, so we assume the battery capacity is the same at 495mAh (in our tests, we got two full days out of the Pro with Always-On Display enabled and had battery left in the evening).
Regarding connectivity, the Xiaomi Watch 2 has Bluetooth 5.2, Wi-Fi, and NFC. Most importantly, there is no LTE option. That, along with the case material, seems to be the main differentiator between the standard and Pro models.
We’ll be on the lookout for an official press release from Xiaomi to confirm the price and other details (e.g., will it be available outside of Europe?).
