Specialists from the DxOMark portal tested the camera of the most affordable device in Samsung’s current flagship line – the Galaxy S23 FE. In terms of photo and video quality, it turned out to be one of the best in its class, but in the overall rating it was put on par with the flagships of three years ago.
The Galaxy S23 FE has a 50 MP main camera with f/1.8 lens aperture and optical image stabilization, a 12 MP ultra-wide-angle camera and an 8 MP telephoto camera with 3x optical zoom. And all this is seasoned with Samsung’s proprietary algorithms.
Having studied the resulting images, experts noted good color reproduction, especially skin tone, and high detail. In addition, the wide dynamic range ensures excellent detailing of dark and bright areas of the frame. The pluses also include the quality of the ultra-wide-angle camera and the effectiveness of video stabilization.
Among the shortcomings, experts noted the instability of autofocus and artifacts in videos shot in low light. In addition, photographs are noisy, and when shooting moving objects, they may appear double.
“The Samsung Galaxy S23 FE performed very well overall for a high-end device in the DxOMark camera test. The overall score is quite close to the more expensive Galaxy S23 and noticeably higher than the more budget Galaxy A14 5G,” DxOMark said in its verdict.
Samsung Galaxy S23 FE received 127 points, taking third place in the High-End category. Only Google Pixel 7a (133) and Pixel 7 (140) rank higher. But in the overall ranking it is only in 53rd place, sharing the position with the Galaxy Z Flip5, OnePlus 11, and iPhone 12 Pro. The Galaxy S23, by comparison, has 133 points and 35th place.
