Xiaomi has launched the Redmi 13C 5G – an affordable smartphone with next-generation cellular connectivity, a 50 MP main camera, and an interesting back panel design with star elements. The phone differs from the LTE-only Redmi 13C in both the chipset and camera departments.
The Redmi 13C 5G has a 6.74″ LCD with HD+ resolution and a 90 Hz refresh rate. The panel does not allow a fingerprint scanner under the screen, so the sensor is in the power key on the right, embedded under the volume rocker.
The chipset is a Dimensity 6100+ with an octa-core CPU, reaching 2.2 GHz speed on its two performance cores. Storage is either 128GB or 256GB, while the RAM is 4GB, 6GB, or 8GB.
The Redmi 13C 5G could be mistaken for its LTE sibling if it weren’t for the cameras on the back. The island is visually different, and on the two big black circles, we only see two shooters. The 50 MP main one has an nf/1.8 aperture in front, while the resolution of the auxiliary one is not even mentioned by Redmi in promo material or the official specification sheet.
The selfie camera is hidden in a waterdrop notch and has a 5 MP sensor, which is a slight downgrade from the 8 MP camera on the other Redmi 13C.
Xiaomi sells the Redmi 13C 5G with a 5,000 mAh battery that supports 18W PD charging through the USB-C port, but only included a basic 10W adapter in the retail box. The phone has a dedicated microSD slot in the card drawer, where it can also have two SIM cards with simultaneous 5G support.
Other notable specs include a 3.5mm audio jack, Android 13 with MIUI 14 on top, and Gorilla Glass protection for the display. The phone is also splash and dust resistant, which is always a nice feature in affordable phones.
