OnePlus has now introduced a new flagship, and we are eager to compare it to its predecessor. You can find the most important variances in our OnePlus 12 vs OnePlus 11 comparison.
OnePlus 12 vs OnePlus 11
After years of increasing its prices, OnePlus released the more affordable flagship, the OnePlus 11, in early 2023. However, the company made some compromises – for example, wireless charging was no longer available, while nearly all competitors offered this feature.
The OnePlus 12 represents a significant change in direction for the Chinese manufacturer. The device is now much more high-end than its predecessor. It comes with an official IP65 certification, allowing it to withstand heavy rain. However, it still cannot be submerged in water, unlike smartphones with an IP68 certificate.
The design has largely remained the same, with a few notable changes: the famous alert slider that allows quick setting of the sound profile has moved to the left, and the selfie camera is no longer in the left corner of the screen but in the middle.
Curious about the significant differences? We’ve listed them in this OnePlus 12 vs OnePlus 11 comparison.
1. Bigger and brighter screen
The OLED screen of the OnePlus 11 was certainly not small at 6.7 inches. The OnePlus 12 goes a step further with a gigantic 6.82-inch display. The device itself is also growing, measuring 163.3 by 75.8 millimeters, slightly larger than the OnePlus 11, although the difference is negligible. The thickness is 9.2 millimeters, and it weighs 220 grams, 15 grams heavier than its predecessor.
The screen itself is notably better, featuring a 120Hz refresh rate and a peak brightness of 4500 nits, making it the brightest screen in a smartphone to date. The OnePlus 11’s peak brightness did not exceed 1300 nits.
By the way, there is a layer of Gorilla Glass Victus 2 over the screen, offering better protection against cracking than the Gorilla Glass 5 used in the OnePlus 11.
2. Faster hardware
The OnePlus 12 is equipped with lightning-fast hardware: a Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chip in combination with 12, 16, or even 24GB of RAM. The storage options include 256GB, 512GB, or 1 terabyte.
This marks a notable improvement compared to the OnePlus 11, which only offered an entry-level version with 8GB of RAM and 128GB of storage.
3. Improved cameras
The OnePlus 11 features a 32-megapixel telephoto lens, with the OnePlus 12 opting for the telephoto camera also found in the very expensive, foldable OnePlus Open, featuring a larger sensor and a resolution of 64 megapixels. The main camera on the OnePlus 12 also comes from the OnePlus Open, with a resolution of 50 megapixels and a ‘stacked sensor’ for better dynamic range. The selfie camera now has a resolution of 32 megapixels. The cameras have also been adjusted by Hasselblad to ensure realistic colors.
4. Larger battery, wireless charging
The OnePlus 12 breaks through the standard 5000 mAh battery size, offering a 5400 mAh battery. It also features faster charging at a maximum of 100 Watts and wireless charging, two features that were absent in the OnePlus 11. It even supports reverse wireless charging at 10 Watts.
5. Higher price
The OnePlus 12 is currently only available in China, and its European prices are yet to be known. However, comparing it with the OnePlus 11, if the percentage increase is maintained, the OnePlus 12 will cost around €899. This is just an approximation, and we will update this article with actual prices once known.
