Former Ferrari team boss Jean Todt agrees with Felipe Massa that the 2008 Singapore GP should be deleted from the statistics books. Felipe Massa and a legal team are currently taking steps to overturn the result of the 2008 race and championship.
Nelson Piquet Jr. crashed deliberately at the time so that teammate Fernando Alonso could win the race. Afterwards it turned out that Piquet had deliberately crashed and that F1 boss Bernie Ecclestone and the FIA knew about it at the time. Yet no action was taken to remove the race from the championship.
However, Felipe Massa is taking legal action because he missed out on the world title in 2008. Massa recently stated that he expected Ferrari to support him in his fight. Former Ferrari team boss Jean Todt already agrees with Massa that the Singapore GP should have been cancelled.
“I’m not going to go into the controversy in depth, but it was very hard for him to deal with mentally,” Todt told ‘La Stampa’. “Maybe we should have acted harder when the story broke, but there is no doubt that the Singapore GP was manipulated. The race should have been cancelled.”
