Samsung has not yet released the Samsung Galaxy S24 series smartphones. This upcoming series includes the Galaxy S24, Galaxy S24+, and Galaxy S24 Ultra smartphones. The new smartphones are rumored to debut on January 17, a month earlier than the regular schedule for Galaxy Unpacked events. However, a recent leak has revealed the camera specifications of the upcoming Samsung Galaxy S25 series, set to launch in 2025 smartphones.
The report indicates that Samsung will improve the camera specifications of the upcoming Galaxy S25 series smartphones. The forthcoming Samsung Galaxy S24 series will not bring any significant changes in the optics department. A leak revealed that Samsung might ditch the 10MP telephoto sensor with 10x optical zoom to make way for a larger 50MP telephoto sensor with 5x optical zoom. Many prospective customers are unhappy with Samsung’s decision to ditch the 10x telephoto sensor.
Revegnus Aka @Tech_Reve on X (formerly Twitter) has revealed that Samsung will not use the 50MP Samsung ISOCELL GN3 sensor with the upcoming Samsung Galaxy S25 and Galaxy S25+ smartphones. The tipster is accurate regarding the leaks with respect to Samsung smartphones. Samsung debuted the ISOCELL GN3 sensor with the Galaxy S23 and Galaxy S23+ smartphones.
Great news: The S25 and S25+ will no longer use the dreadful GN3 sensor; instead, they will feature Sony’s image sensor. I’m very happy! https://t.co/P6pxMEmyMl

The South Korean giant will also equip the upcoming Samsung Galaxy S24 and Galaxy S24+ smartphones with the same ISOCELL GN3 sensor. The ISOCELL GN3 sensor is a slightly modified version of the ISOCELL GN5 sensor, which debuted with the Samsung Galaxy S22 and Galaxy S22+ smartphones.
Revegnus has revealed in a new post that Samsung will equip the upcoming Galaxy S25 and Galaxy S25+ smartphones with Sony sensors. The tipster doesn’t specify the exact Sony sensor that the South Korean giant will equip the forthcoming Galaxy S25 series. Samsung might equip the upcoming smartphones with Sony IMX 890 or LYT-700 sensors.
A separate post from the tipster reveals that Samsung is working on a 1-inch sensor. The sensor is likely to debut with the Galaxy S25 Ultra smartphone and is expected to offer significant upgrades over its predecessors. Samsung will equip the device with a 200MP sensor with a sensor size of 1 inch, a pixel pitch of 0.8μmand a Horizontal and Vertical Dual Pixel Autofocus (H/V DPAF).
The sensor will also incorporate 4x in-sensor zoomingwhich is a significant upgrade over the existing sensors. The inclusion of better sensors will not provide better output unless the software is tuned appropriately.
Samsung is also rumored to equip the S25 series smartphones with an M13-based display instead of the display based on the M11. The vanilla S25 series might pack Exynos 2500 based on Samsung’s 3nm process for specific markets. Let’s glance at the specifications of the upcoming Galaxy S24 and Galaxy S24+ smartphones.
