Jody Egginton, technical director at AlphaTauri, recently announced that AlphaTauri will acquire and use more parts from Red Bull. The competition seems to be increasingly concerned about the close cooperation between the two teams owned by Red Bull.
Red Bull has had two teams in Formula 1 for years and in the beginning the competition was also concerned about this, but in the end the teams grew somewhat apart in terms of using the same parts. However, AlphaTauri stated that it will use more Red Bull parts from next year. In addition to a new name, AlphaTauri will also have a new livery and title sponsor in 2024.
However, the competition mainly pays a lot of attention to using the same parts. For the time being, there do not appear to be any infringements because the F1 regulations allow the use of a limited number of parts. AlphaTauri and Red Bull Racing also use the same wind tunnel.
According to Mercedes motorsport boss Toto Wolff, the ‘file’ is being followed up, but we will mainly have to wait and see what happens in 2024.
“I have to be honest, I only saw that Yuki Tsunoda finished sixth in qualifying in Abu Dhabi and they came on strong, which makes me happy for the AlphaTauri fans who can end the season on a high,” said Toto Wolff. “But this is a transparent world.”
“I haven’t looked at specific parts, I’m sure the others will and at that point we’ll see what we do. But honestly, I haven’t spent much time thinking about it.”
