Toyota is developing a compact fully electric SUV to compete with the Volvo EX30. The study model, called the Toyota Urban SUV Concept, will be followed by a production version in the near future. The design of the Urban SUV Concept is striking and sleek, with headlights reminiscent of the Toyota Prius and C-HR, and the rear lights feature the letters b and z, a nod to Toyota’s Beyond Zero commitment to zero emissions. The interior details have not yet been revealed, but Toyota promises optimal use of space and the option to choose between more legroom or more luggage space, with a sliding rear seat likely. Additionally, customers will have the option to choose between two different batteries, prioritizing affordability or range.
The production model of the Toyota Urban SUV is expected to be unveiled in 2024, with high expectations for its impact in the European market. Despite being the smallest model in Toyota’s range of battery-electric cars, it is anticipated to play a prominent role in Europe, following the success of Toyota’s hybrid Yaris Cross in the B-SUV segment. The Toyota Urban SUV Concept sets the stage for an exciting addition to the electric SUV market.
