Foldable devices are still quite expensive, but discounts can help make them more affordable. Amazon is currently offering the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold5 with 1TB storage for £1,550, which is after a £300 discount and with a £200 coupon applied. The coupon is available for the other two memory configurations, 256GB and 512GB, but they don’t have the first discount, so the 1TB model ends up costing as much as the 256GB one.
If you are interested in a different kind of foldable, the Motorola Razr 40 Ultra offers a 6.9” 165Hz internal and 3.6” cover display (operating at 144Hz), along with a Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 chipset. The 12+13MP camera is disappointing, even by flip standards, but that’s the phone’s only major fault.
You can get the regular Motorola Razr 40 for £250 less. This one has almost the same internal screen (except the refresh rate is limited to 144Hz), but the small cover screen is a big downgrade. Just like the Snapdragon 7 Gen 1 chipset.
The Google Pixel 7a offers a mid-range experience at an affordable price. It features an HRR display, 90Hz refresh rate, and a 64MP main camera with in-sensor zoom, two things that can’t be said of the 6a. This offering also comes with a 30W Google charger which is more powerful than the 7a actually needs, but you can use it for other devices as well.
If you are interested in non-folding phones, the Motorola Edge 40 brings a 6.55” 144Hz display and a Dimensity 8020 chipset to the table, offering faster charging – 68W wired and 15W wireless. While the battery is almost exactly the same size, the MediaTek chipset is more efficient and offers longer endurance.
The Nokia X30 comes with HMD’s 3-3-3 promise – 3 years of warranty, 3 years of OS updates and security patches. It’s from late 2022, so it’s already one year off, but there’s two more to go.
If you need something cheaper than the Pixel 7a and Edge 40, the Moto G73 might be the better choice. It has a FHD+ 6.5” screen (120Hz IPS LCD) and a Dimensity 930 for 5G connectivity. There’s a 50 + 8 MP camera pair on the back and a 5,000 mAh battery with 30 W only wired charging inside.
Let’s take a look at some Sony headphones. If you need TWS buds, the WF-1000XM5 are some of the best money can buy with excellent sound quality and class-leading noise cancellation.
If you want over-ear buds, the WH-1000XM5 is one of the best options. The WH-1000XM4 holds up very well and can be found for £200. Check out our review for more on why you might want the XM5 or the XM4.
If you want headphones for gaming, the Sony INZONE H9 is a wireless headphone with an included dongle for a low-latency connection to a PS5 or PC. You can also plug in a 3.5mm cable. In parallel, the headset can also connect to your phone via Bluetooth. These have ANC and 360 Spatial Audio, plus a much better microphone than typical over-ear headphones (which automatically mute when you turn its boom out of the way).
