It doesn’t happen often, but the FIA has been forced to address F1 fans and warn them about a company that would defraud fans of fake F1 tickets.
As a fan, it is of course best to buy your tickets directly from the organizer of the F1 race or on the official Formula 1 website. However, there are also many other so-called ‘official resellers’ of F1 tickets. But where a sport is popular, there is also a threat of abuse and fraud and Formula 1 cannot escape this.
The FIA warns that a company called Prive Global Sports Ltd, trading as Priv Global Events, offers so-called ‘hospitality packages’. ‘Hospitality Packages’ are very expensive tickets that often include better seats around the circuit and some sort of VIP experience. This of course also includes expensive catering, champagne, etc. However, according to the FIA, the company in question would try to defraud fans.
“The FIA recently became aware that a company called Prive Global Sports Ltd (trading as Priv Global Events) is offering ‘hospitality packages’ for the FIA Formula 1 Grands Prix,” the FIA said in a statement. “As part of these offers, Priv Global Events has provided its potential customers with letters purportedly sent by the FIA to confirm the allocation of hospitality tickets in the names of Priv Global Events customers.”
“These letters contain the name and logo of the FIA as well as the names of bona fide FIA personnel and of the FIA Formula 1 World Championship, as well as the F1 logo. However, Priv Global Events is not authorized by the FIA to sell hospitality packages for the Grands Prix. The letters that Priv Global Events provided to its potential customers were also not sent by the FIA.”
So there would be potential fraud of F1 fans. Let it also be a warning to the sale of regular tickets that scammers are always lurking. Fortunately, the Priv Global Events website has already been taken offline.
