OnePlus 12 will feature a 50 MP main camera with a Sony LYT-808 sensor, as revealed by Louis Jie, the head of the company’s operations in China. He posted a teaser showcasing all three Hasselblad-branded cameras, disclosing that the ultra-wide shooter will be 48MP, while the periscope lens with 3x telephoto zoom will be 64MP. There’s also a 13-channel multispectral sensor to enhance the camera setup’s capabilities.
The setup sounds familiar, and that’s because it’s exactly the same as on the OnePlus Open and the Oppo Find N3 – the only change is the architecture and design of the internals.
OnePlus 12 camera specifications in Chinese
Information about the main sensor is not new, but now we have further confirmation that OnePlus has decided to play it safe with its new flagship smartphone. We’ve already reviewed the Open and the Find N3 (which are essentially the same), and we found the camera experience to be solid, both in photos and videos.
We believe that the OnePlus 12 will be able to produce slightly better images for one big reason – it comes with a Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chipset. Qualcomm has promised AI-enhanced camera capabilities in all phones with the new SoC, including Semantic Segmentation to improve the vibrancy and detail of real-life images, an object eraser for videos, and generative AI to enhance images other than the originally captured data.

It is up to the manufacturer to decide how to apply these features to the OnePlus 12, which will be launched in China on December 5, while the global unveiling is likely to take place on January 24, 2024.
