Following the Abu Dhabi GP, the stewards have summoned Sergio Perez to address ‘condescending statements on the on-board radio’.
Sergio Perez was given a five-second time penalty during the race for a collision with Lando Norris. Perez disagreed with the penalty and expressed his feelings over the on-board radio.
“The stewards are a joke man,” Perez responded when his race engineer Bird informed him of his time penalty. “I can not believe it. They have been very bad this year but this is really ridiculous. This is really too ridiculous!”
Bird replied, “I don’t know what they were looking at.”
Despite Perez’s protest, the five-second penalty stands and he must account for his language. Perez also received two penalty points for the collision, bringing his total to seven penalty points. A driver who accumulates twelve penalty points over a twelve-month period will face a racing ban.
