For Samsung Galaxy S22 users, the download of Android 14 is now available, along with the One UI 6 update for your smartphone. The installation process is simple.
Android 14 available for the Samsung Galaxy S22
After being rolled out for the Samsung Galaxy S23 smartphones at the end of October, Android 14 is now available for their predecessors. The Galaxy S22, Galaxy S22 Plus, and Galaxy S22 Ultra will also receive the update to the latest version of the operating system. We want to thank readers Rinus and Jurgen for informing us about this!
The software package is about 3GB in size. If the update is available for your device, you will receive a notification. If you’re eager to update, you can manually check for Android 14 by going to ‘Settings’ and then ‘Software update’. Once you click ‘Download and Install’, the rest will be taken care of automatically.
Since it’s a large package, we recommend downloading the software via WiFi to avoid using up your data. Also, make a backup of your smartphone to avoid losing any important files if something goes wrong during the update. Ready to install? Then make sure to place your smartphone on the charger to ensure it doesn’t run out of battery.
Update also includes One UI 6
Android 14 is a relatively minor update, with features such as customizable lock screens and subtle flash notifications. Google also focuses on enhancing privacy and accessibility. More information can be found in our review of Android 14.
This update also brings One UI 6 to your Galaxy S22, which is the software overlay that Samsung adds to Android. The Quick Settings panel has been redesigned to provide easy access to frequently used features.
Samsung will be rolling out the new version of Android to many more smartphones in the coming weeks, despite an overview of dates previously shared by the company not being entirely correct.
