McLaren driver Lando Norris is optimistic about their chances of competing with Red Bull and Max Verstappen in the upcoming year.

Last weekend, Lando Norris secured second place, elevating him to fifth place in the world championship standings. Although he initially attempted to overtake Max Verstappen during the race, the reigning world champion ultimately demonstrated his dominant form that has characterized the season.

Throughout the season, McLaren has undergone a remarkable transformation. While their point tally remained at zero in the first two races, Norris has consistently scored the most points since the team introduced substantial updates at the Austrian GP.

Looking ahead to the next season, Norris remains optimistic and believes McLaren has the potential to contend for race victories in 2024.

“Since our upgrade in Austria, I have been the second highest-scoring driver on the grid, and I believe we have been the second highest-scoring team,” Norris shared with the media present.

“Considering the fact that we’re striving to compete against Red Bull, I think our progress this year has been incredibly impressive.”

“We’re talking about one of the greatest Formula 1 drivers of all time in one of the most dominant cars. It’s a combination that requires all the pieces to align, but he has achieved 17 victories and delivered one of the most dominant years in F1 history,” Norris added.

“For us to go from where we were in Bahrain to discussing challenging Red Bull is a very promising sign. We know there’s more in store for us next year.”

“I’m excited about it, although it still feels like a distant possibility. There’s no point in dwelling on it until next year, but as a team, I choose to be optimistic and believe we can make it happen,” Norris concluded.
