The man from Name started from fifteenth position on the Phillip Island circuit. After a good start, he moved up to sixth place. But in the heavy rain, he fell, like a number of colleagues, and had to abandon the fight.
The organization decided to cancel the GP after ten laps due to the bad weather. The victory, for the third time this season, went to the Italian Tony Arbolino of the Belgian MarcVDS. Only half of the World Championship points were awarded because the riders completed less than two-thirds of the total distance.
The World Cup continues on October 29 in Thailand.
