Max Verstappen says that he is completely fine after his record winning streak of ten races in a row came to an end last weekend in Singapore.
The world champion knew it would be a difficult race after he could not get further than eleventh on the starting grid on Saturday. He had already indicated in advance that fighting for victory would probably not be an option.
More than a fifth place was not possible for Verstappen after the strategic choice to start on the hard compound did not appear to have the desired effect and the safety car procedure also threw a spanner in the works.
I knew this day would come and I am at peace with it,” said Verstappen after the race. Everything has to be right. Everyone always says: Look how dominant they are and look how easy it is.
But it’s never easy, there are a lot of details that have to be right, this weekend we clearly got a few things wrong and then you have to chase.
Red Bull had won fourteen races in a row before the race in Singapore and the last race of the previous season. In doing so, they broke the record that had been held by McLaren since 1988.
