One of the standout features of the iPhone 15 Pro Max is its new periscope camera with 5x optical zoom. This impressive camera system includes a 120mm equivalent lens that features an innovative tetraprism design, a bright f/2.8 aperture, and 1.12µm pixels behind a 12MP sensor. Notably, Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo predicts that this periscope sensor will also be introduced in the smaller iPhone 16 Pro next year, offering the same capabilities as the Pro Max model.

According to Kuo, Apple is facing production challenges with the iPhone 15 Pro Max, primarily due to the increasing costs of production and the lower return rates associated with the new zoom lens supplied exclusively by Largan Precision Co. Recent reports indicate that the iPhone 15 Pro Max is highly sought after and this could result in significantly longer usage times compared to last year’s iPhone 14 Pro Max. Kuo predicts that the iPhone 15 series will achieve 80 million shipments by the end of the year.
