Attention cricket fans! We have some unfortunate news for you. The days of free streaming for cricket matches might be coming to an end. There is a possibility that you will soon have to pay to watch upcoming cricket matches, including the World Cup.
In response to a complaint regarding the free streaming of cricket matches on Hotstar for mobile devices, such as the recently concluded Asia Cup and the upcoming cricket World Cup, the Telecom Disputes Settlement and Appellate Tribunal (TDSAT) has sent a notice to Disney Star.
The notice was sent after the All India Digital Cable Federation (AIDCF) filed a petition, claiming that this practice is unfair to the cable business because they have already paid the broadcaster for distributing and transmitting signals. The tribunal has asked Star India to respond to the accusations and concerns raised by AIDCF by October 3.
