Jago Geerts (Yamaha) finished second in the MX2 qualifying race for the Italian Grand Prix, the eighteenth and penultimate World Championship round. Liam Everts (Yamaha) finished outside the points and thus did a bad job in the battle for the world title.
The German Simon Laengenfelder (GasGas) crossed the line first and took 10 points, one more than Geerts. Everts only finished seventeenth.
Italian World Cup leader Andrea Adamo (KTM) finished fourth and scored 7 points. He thus increased his lead over Everts (739 against 684). Lucas Coenen (Husqvarna) was third for 8 points.
