The Singapore GP is traditionally a night race and the riders face a number of additional challenges in terms of finding the right ‘rhythm’. The first practice session is held in daylight and is therefore not really representative of the conditions during qualifying and the race.
It’s not called practice for nothing!

Pushing the limits of the car and the track is extra difficult due to the difference between daylight and evening light. Add a street circuit to that and you know that riders often make mistakes and have to gradually find the right rhythm by pushing the limits more and more.
Lizard on track!

Halfway through the practice session we received a yellow flag because a ‘monitor’ wanted to cross the F1 circuit. It is not the first time that the local ‘fauna and flora’ has caused problems in Singapore and we received yellow flags several times because little brothers of ‘Godzilla’ were walking around the circuit. Max Verstappen could already laugh about it.
Max: Theres a lizard again on the track. Its a smaller one this time!
GP: Okay understood. Maybe Godzilla had a kid
