Motorola has unveiled three affordable smartphones and released them directly in the Netherlands. In this article, you can read all about the new Edge 40 Neo, Moto G84, and Moto G54.
Motorola Edge 40 Neo Officially Announced
Motorola is mainly highlighting the waterproofness of the Edge 40 Neo. With its IP68 certification, the smartphone can withstand dust, dirt, and even water immersion. Additionally, the phone features a vegan leather back, giving it a distinctive feel compared to glass or plastic devices.
The device is relatively thin at 7.76 millimeters and has a 6.55-inch OLED screen with a resolution of 2400 by 1080 pixels. This results in vibrant colors and true black. The 144Hz refresh rate ensures smooth images and animations.
Under the hood, the Motorola Edge 40 Neo is equipped with a MediaTek Dimensity 7030 processor, which supports 5G internet. It is assisted by 8GB of RAM and 128GB of storage space. The phone runs on Android 13, but an update to Android version 14 is expected soon. It also features a 50-megapixel main camera and a 13-megapixel wide-angle lens for photography.
The Edge 40 Neo comes in different colors and has a 5000mAh battery. It supports fast charging of up to 68 Watts, allowing you to charge the smartphone up to 50% in just fifteen minutes. However, it does not support wireless charging, which is not common for midrange phones.
Motorola Moto G84
The new Moto G84 stands out for its design with a vegan leather back. It is also relatively thin (7.6 millimeters) and can handle splashes of water, although it is less water-resistant than the Edge 40 Neo with its IP54 certification.
The Moto G84 features two cameras on the back: a 50-megapixel main camera and an 8-megapixel wide-angle lens. The primary camera has optical image stabilization, ensuring sharp photos even if your hands are shaking or in low-light conditions. The wide-angle lens also enables macro photography for close-up shots.
The Moto G84 has a 6.5-inch OLED screen with a Full HD resolution and a 120Hz refresh rate. It also features stereo speakers and is powered by a Snapdragon 695 processor, which is commonly used in affordable smartphones but not known for its speed.
The Moto G84 supports 5G and includes a headphone jack. It has a 5000mAh battery, but charging is slightly slower compared to the Edge 40 Neo, with a maximum charging speed of 30 Watts.
Motorola Moto G54
The Motorola Moto G54 is the latest budget smartphone from the company. It succeeds the Moto G53 and has a suggested retail price of 179 euros, although there is also a more powerful variant available for 199 euros. The device features a 6.5-inch screen with a Full HD resolution and a 120Hz refresh rate, which is great for watching films and series on your phone.

The Moto G54 is equipped with a MediaTek Dimensity 7020 processor with options for 4GB or 8GB of RAM and 128GB or 256GB of storage space, depending on the version you choose. The budget phone features a dual camera on the back, including a 50-megapixel main camera with optical image stabilization and a 2-megapixel macro lens. It also has a 16-megapixel front-facing camera for selfies.
With the 5000mAh battery, you likely won’t need to charge it before the end of the day. If you do need to charge the Moto G54, it supports a maximum charging speed of 15 Watts, which is not as fast as other devices.
