At this point, it is highly likely that the Galaxy Ring, Samsung’s foray into the realm of health-focused wearables, will not be released this year. However, according to Ice Universe, we now have a launch window – the Ring will be announced at the Galaxy S24 unveiling event in January.
What’s more, it appears that Samsung has great expectations for this new product lineup. The Galaxy Ring is said to be the highlight of the event, possibly surpassing even the Galaxy S24 lineup itself.
While the Unpacked events for the S22 and S23 series took place in February, there have been January launches in the past. Detailed leaks about the Galaxy S24 lineup have already begun to emerge, making an earlier launch quite plausible. As for the ring, the question remains as to whether it will be ready in time.
Reportedly, Samsung is prepared to commence mass production; however, progress has been slow due to the additional regulatory clearances required for a health-tracking product. The Ring is expected to combine the health-focused features of the Galaxy Watches while eliminating most, if not all, of the smartwatch functionalities (it is unclear whether it will even include a screen).
The smaller, less conspicuous design of the Galaxy Ring could attract a wider audience – individuals who prefer traditional watches or those who do not wish to wear a watch at all but still desire to monitor their sleep, heart rate, and exercise. And if Ice is correct, it will be more than just a ring-shaped smart band; it will be Samsung’s Next Big Thing in the realm of wearables (speaking of smart bands, Samsung appears to have abandoned that segment).
