Honor introduced the V Purse concept two weeks ago during IFA in Berlin. There have been questions about whether a smartphone that can be folded outwards, which can be carried as a wallet, will ever hit store shelves. Now we have the answer.
Yang Yang, a popular Chinese actor, is seen holding the phone and confirming the announcement date. He invited the audience to witness a fashion show on September 19 in Shanghai, where the V Purse will be launched in front of Honor’s home crowd.
The invite and all related social media posts talk about a show or a presentation – there’s no word on any of its specs. But then, it’s probably understandable to see the target audience for this one. We have eight days until the event, during which we will undoubtedly hear more about the V Purse as it prepares to make the transition from a concept to a commercial smartphone.
We’ve already seen (but not touched) the Honor V wallet in Berlin. The concept does resemble the Huawei Mate Xs 2 and its wrap-around display, cameras, and a click-to-fold button. We also saw a trendy case that made the device look even more like a clutch.
The Honor V wallet as a wallet
At the time, Honor talked about the possibility of launching the phone in China before the end of the year, but it appears to be ahead of schedule. However, an international launch seems unlikely for this one.
