Ferrari: “New F1 car will look completely different in 2024”

After a disappointing season this year, Ferrari has announced that they want to do things completely differently for 2024. The car of 2024 will not be a ‘further development’ of the current car, but a car that will look completely different.

The SF-23 is an evolution of the F1-75, last year’s Ferrari F1 car, which partly explains why Ferrari was confronted with similar tire wear problems.

Charles Leclerc and Carlos Sainz have complained several times this season about the F1 car that Ferrari developed for this season. Even several major updates have not solved the SF-23’s problems and inconsistent performance. That is why Ferrari wants to introduce a completely new concept in 2024.

“The car in 2024 will be very different because when developing this year’s car we realized that some architectural choices were not the right ones,” said Enrico Cardile, head of aerodynamic development at Ferrari. “It hindered development too much.”

“Next year’s car will not be an evolution of this year’s car, just as the current car is an evolution of last year.”

“It will be a completely new car, a different chassis with a different design, different rear end so that our aerodynamic department can better develop the car to achieve the objectives.”
