McLaren has been waiting for a new F1 title for years with both the drivers and the teams. However, Lando Norris expects that he will soon be able to challenge for the F1 title with McLaren.
At McLaren, it has been since Lewis Hamilton and 2008 that a driver’s title was won again. As far as the Constructors’ Championship is concerned, we even have to go back to 1998, although without exclusion due to the infamous ‘spygate scandal’ McLaren would otherwise have become Constructors’ World Champion in 2007.
According to McLaren boss Zak Brown, McLaren will be able to challenge for the F1 title in 2025, something Lando Norris agrees with.
“There is a difference between having everything done and having everything in your own hands,” Norris said about expectations for the coming years. “When he (Zak Brown) says that, it is mainly about attracting the right people, guys who come from Red Bull and Ferrari.”
“Having a wind tunnel that is ready and doing everything that is necessary to have everything in place for it, the simulator that does what is necessary.”
“There are still things going on, which comes down to getting everything done. By then everything should have been done properly.”
“Then it still takes some time to get everything possible out of it. So yes, I think it’s right, I completely agree with what he says.”
“It’s just that there’s a difference between actually converting that into lap time, which I don’t think will be possible until early next season.”
“It’s something we can build towards by the end of 2024 and then have a chance to win in 2025.”
