Felipe Massa is currently fighting a legal battle to get at least compensation for missing out on the F1 title in 2008. According to Felipe Massa’s lawyer, there is a good chance that the Brazilian will even get the 2008 F1 title.
In 2008 Lewis Hamilton won the world title, but the denouement of the title fight could have been completely different if F1 and the FIA had intervened after being informed that Nelson Piquet Jr. deliberately crashed his Renault F1 car into the wall. The cheating during the race only became known in 2009, but F1 and the FIA were aware much earlier, according to statements by former F1 boss Bernie Ecclestone.
Felipe Massa therefore believes that not Hamilton, but he should have been awarded the F1 title because the Singapore GP had to be removed from the championship. Felipe Massa’s legal team said last week that they would go to the British Supreme Court if they did not receive a reply from the FIA and FOM to a letter addressed to them by 4pm on September 8.
According to Bernardo Viana, a lawyer who conducts legal coordination from Brazil, there is a good chance that Felipe Massa’s legal battle will be successful.
“Chances are good,” he replied when asked if Felipe Massa’s legal battle will be successful.
