Jacques Villeneuve steps into the breach for Max Verstappen, who won his tenth race in a row in Monza in 2023. According to Villeneuve, it is not a bad thing that Verstappen dominates Formula 1.
In Monza, Max Verstappen broke another Formula 1 record, winning ten consecutive races. There is no measure to the two-time world champion and here and there there are voices on whether this is good for the sport.
If it depends on Jacques Villeneuve, there is no problem, he thinks that Max Verstappen only deserves praise for his performance.
“Who cares if it’s good for the sport? He is great. That is it. That shouldn’t stop you. He’s done it better than anyone else. He managed to work with his engineer and his team to make the car a second skin,” Villeneuve told RacingNews365.
“When you have that, you just sit in the car and don’t even think. The car does everything you want it to. That’s why Sergio Perez believes for two or three races every year that he can beat Max.
“But then Max works and gets the car so he can do what he wants. Then he destroys Perez. And that makes all the difference. I had that in late 1996 and 1997. I jumped in the car and thought, ‘I know the car can do this,’ and it did.”
