Roger Benoit, F1 journalist and also a good friend of Michael Schumacher, is depressing about the condition of the seven-time F1 champion.
Since his 2013 skiing accident in Mribel, France, Michael Schumacher’s medical condition has been one of the best kept secrets in the world. Only when the Schumacher family filed a lawsuit against the magazine ‘Bunte’ (German gossip magazine must pay Michael Schumacher 50,000 euros in compensation) did we cautiously learn something, but otherwise the Schumacher family keeps their mouths shut.
Jean Todt in particular, who is a good friend of the house, knows about Michael Schumacher’s medical condition, but of course he also hides himself in silence. But now there is Roger Benoit, with decades of experience as an F1 journalist he not only knows a lot of people in F1, he is also a good friend of Michael Schumacher.
In conversation with the Swiss Blick, Benoit is asked if he knows how the seven-time world champion has been since he experienced his skiing accident in 2013.
“No,” Benoit replies. “There is only one answer to that question and Mick Schumacher gave that answer in 2022 in one of his rare interviews.”
“He then said: ‘I would give anything to talk to my father’. This one sentence says everything about the state his father has been in for 3,500 days. It’s hopeless.”
