After the Italian GP, Ferrari driver Carlos Sainz was robbed of his very expensive watch in Milan. However, the Spaniard successfully pursued the perpetrators and the watch was recovered.
A few hours after the end of the Italian GP, Carlos Sainz was the victim of a theft in front of the Armani Hotel in Milan. Three people made off with his very expensive Richard Mille watch, an Alexander Zverev model worth around 275,000 euros.
However, Carlos Sainz and his personal trainer decided to give chase, partly in Sainz’s Ferrari, partly on foot. In the end, they managed to stop one of the three individuals. The second robber was stopped by Sainz’s manager while the third also surrendered moments later. Milan police attended in large numbers and arrested the three robbers. Carlos Sainz’s Richard Mille watch was also recovered.
It is not the first time that F1 pilots have been victims of the theft of an extremely expensive Richard Mille watch. Last year, Ferrari colleague Charles Leclerc was the victim of a theft of his Richard Mille watch prior to the GP of Emilia-Romagna (Charles Leclerc robbed of a very expensive watch: Perhaps provide street lighting?). In 2021, McLaren driver Lando Norris was the victim of a similar theft after the Euro 2020 final.
