Motocross rider Jago Geerts (Yamaha) has finished second in the first round of the MX2 class at the Grand Prix of Turkey, the seventeenth of nineteen World Championship rounds.
Victory went to German Simon Längenfelder (GasGas) at the Afyonkarahisar circuit. Three-time vice world champion Geerts finished second in more than three seconds. Liam Everts (KTM) was third. Sacha Coenen (KTM) finished twelfth. Lucas Coenen (Husqvarna), Sacha’s twin brother, had a shoulder problem after a fall and gave up.
Italian World Cup leader Andrea Adamo (KTM) had to be satisfied with tenth place. In the World Cup position, he sees Everts approaching 54 points. Geerts is third on 84 points, Längenfelder fourth on 86 points.
The second round of the MX2 starts at 3.10pm, after the first round in the MXGP category.
