He was allowed to start from pole and offered a long resistance to Max Verstappen, but in the end Carlos Sainz had to be satisfied with third place at the finish. Saiz had to work hard for that because we got to see an intense battle between Leclerc and Sainz.
“It was tough and hard racing whenever we get the chance, it’s always a pleasure to race against Charles,” Sainz said after the race of his battle on track with team-mate Charles Leclerc. “Today was the same. He’s a great racer, same as Max and Checo. We had fun out there on track and I hope the fans enjoyed it too.”
“It can’t get much tougher than today, I honestly pushed the full race to keep the Red Bull behind me.”
“Because of that I asked a lot of my rear tyres, so I paid the price with my rear tyres. However, I did everything possible to defend my position and I ended up finishing third, but it was a tough race for sure.”
