During qualifying for the Italian GP, Max Verstappen narrowly missed out on pole position. Nevertheless, Verstappen is not really disappointed because he obviously realizes that that tenth victory in a row is still there.
“It went well. We have made good progress compared to Friday,” Verstappen begins his review after qualifying. “It was very close in every part of qualifying, you have that here at Monza. Today I am happy with the second place on the grid.”
Verstappen awaits a battle with both Ferraris for victory on Sunday, a battle he believes he can win.
“It is nice to see all those enthusiastic fans. Of course we will try to win the race tomorrow. Usually we have a fast car during the race, I’m not really worried about that, because we’ve set up the car a bit more for Sunday,” said Verstappen, looking ahead to the race. “I expect Ferrari to be fast at the start of the race, but after that it’s about who can keep the tires good the longest. But first we enjoy today and then we focus on tomorrow.”
