For Ferrari, the GP of Italy at the Monza circuit is always one of the highlights on the F1 calendar. The chance seems small that Ferrari will be able to triumph on Sunday, but with a special livery for its F1 car it wants to emphasize its victory at the 24 hours of Le Mans.
Things can go wrong quickly on the high-speed circuit of Monza. A blowout can certainly be avoided, Fernando Alonso drove over a piece of a car, fortunately without further consequences. At Alfa Romeo, the first practice session ended earlier than planned, both drivers experienced problems with their car, which received a special livery especially for the Italian GP.
Just like on other circuits, Monza is also a search for the limits of the car and the circuit. Alex Albon suffered oversteer on his Williams F1 car and ended up in the gravel trap.
In the end it was Max Verstappen who was the fastest, Carlos Sainz followed in the Ferrari just a handful of thousandths from the Dutchman. The numerous Tifosi present can therefore still harbor hope for the rest of the race weekend.
